Mini Pigs
SonRidge Farm's Miniature Pigs
Pig Information:
Our Mini pigs hold a very special place in our heart and on our farm. Mini pigs are very special and unique animals. If you understand their personalities, and quirks, owners bond to them, like the pigs were their own children.

Piggies love to have their bellies scratched, and snuggle with their owners. Pigs are like two year old children - intelligent, curious, and sometimes even mischievous. They are sensitive creatures that can be playful, and even humorous. They are extremely intelligent and give a lot of love to their owners.

Many owners sleep with their pigs, travel with their pigs, dress them in costumes, and share every aspect of their lives, with their cute companions.
Like I say: "The more solicitation, the better! "
Here are just a few great "outings" that you could take your piggy on: (many of which, I've done!)
* Nursing Homes
* Library for "story" times
* Cowboy Church
* Parades
* Seasonal Events
* Parties (if your host allows!)
* Friends houses
* Vacations
* PetSmart & other pet shops (that will allow pets to come in)
* and SO much more!
Piglet Ownership:
* They require a lot of love & time. If you work and train with the piggy you will have a wonderful friend. Before looking into purchasing a mini pig, please make sure you will have enough time for one.

* They do not require much food & are very easy keepers. When you first get your piglet (depending on it's age/size), you only need to give it 1/4 cup of mini pig feed twice a day. In between that you can give them fruits and vegetables while you are working or training with them.  You'll also increase the food intake as they mature. Follow the directions on the back of your feed.

* They require water at all times. Since their noses are very strong they can easily turn their water dish over. So please beware of that, when picking out the piggy's dishes. Since pigs do not sweat, they must always have water.

* Blankets are a great idea for your piggy. They should have an indoor blanket, an outdoor blanket, and a car blanket if you plan to travel with them. Blankets are very important to pigs. They pull them around, they hid under them, and they take them to bed with them. An old blanket or rag towel will do, you don't need to use good blankets.

* Your new pig can easily be trained to use a litter box, be paper trained, or trained to go outside or use a dog door. All our pigs will be introduced to living inside & will be started on litter box training.

* If you care to spoil your new piggy, we suggest buying cat toys (balls, stuffies & such). Toys can be a fun thing for your new piggy, and can also help in occupying them when you need to leave  them alone.
**Interested in having your own mini pig??
